Conelsur reinforces its commitment to the prevention culture and zero accident goal

The company is promoting an Occupational Health and Safety Policy that contemplates proactive identification of hazards, permanent risk assessment and strict compliance with legal and technical standards.

As part of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, commemorated every April 28th since 2003, Conelsur -a power transmission company belonging to Transelec Group-highlights its commitment to the promotion of safe work environments for all of its associates, contractors and communities near its operations. In a highly technically and operationally complex sector like power transmission, safety is a constant challenge that requires focus, discipline and leadership.

“Safety is a strategic priority for Conelsur. We firmly believe that working in a safe environment is a shared responsibility that must be integrated into every decision and process. Our goal of zero accidents is not just an ideal; it is a living culture that drives every action we perform,” said Cristián Arratia, its CEO.

In this context, the company is promoting a robust Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Policy that contemplates proactive identification of hazards, permanent risk assessment and strict compliance with legal and technical standards. The company fosters the active participation of all actors in its value chain, providing regular training, proper tools, and reporting and continuous improvement spaces. These actions allow both workers and providers to operate in safe conditions and with full knowledge of established protocols.

Additionally, prevention and asset maintenance are essential in an industry in which electrical, mechanical and environmental risks are significant. Conelsur performs periodic inspections, critical infrastructure monitoring, and predictive and corrective maintenance of its transmission systems. This not only prevents disruptions in the service but also protects the physical integrity of the people involved and the environment where the company operates.

In line with its “zero accidents” culture, Conelsur also promotes awareness-raising spaces, leads internal safety campaigns and recognizes OHS best practices. This way, it reinforces a management model based on respect for life, operational responsibility and technical excellence, reaffirming its commitment to the wellbeing of everyone who is part of its operation and environment. Let us remember that safety is not an option but a vital need. Therefore, each person is responsible for looking after their own safety and the safety of their coworkers. “At Conelsur, the main objective is to guarantee that all workers can return to their homes safe and sound at the end of each workday,” stressed Arratia.

As part of this comprehensive approach, the company has been developing three key plans: the strengthening of its occupational health and safety culture; the renewal of its ISO 45001 international certification -obtained in 2023-; and the implementation of a data-driven management system particularly focused on high-risk activities. “We are just closing a campaign that allows us to better map how contracting companies, or even we, manage this resource that lets people meet their maintenance goal without unwanted events. It included the creation of flyers, training courses, audits and reminders of principles for safe work,” concluded the executive.
