Lines of business

01

Transmission Systems

Regulated Segment

Conelsur has a transmission network of approximately 1000 km, composed of 220 kV, 138 kV and 60 kV lines and 21 substations, through which it connects various generation sources to the National Interconnected Electrical System (SEIN, Sistema Eléctrico Interconectado Nacional) in the departments of Lima, Junín, Cajamarca, La Libertad, Huancavelica and Arequipa.

In 2023, we commissioned the Portillo substation and associated links, energized at 60 kV and with GIS technology. It was the first project built by the company in Peru.

Dedicated Segment

Conelsur operates, develops and builds projects for industrial and mining clients. This way, we allow these companies to focus on their main activity and become their strategic ally. An example of this is the operation of the Cerro Corona substation for GoldFields and the transmission system built for Compañía Minera Raura.

Water Supply Systems

02

In addition to the power transmission business, the companies of Transelec Group build, design and install saltwater transport systems and desalination plants for mining and industrial clients.

In Chile, we already have two such projects:

Aguas Horizonte will supply water to the mining operations of the Northern District of Codelco, and we are building it together with Marubeni.

The works include a reverse osmosis desalination plant, marine works and a water propulsion system that will run pipes for more than 160 kilometers to deliver the water to a reservoir that will be built in Radomiro Tomic at more than 3000 meters high.

Aguas Esperanza, a non-desalinated water transport system for the expansion of Minera Centinela, of Antofagasta Minerals, together with Almar Water Solutions. The project includes the acquisition and operation of a 144 km long preexisting pipe and the construction and operation of a new parallel pipe.

Storage Systems

Transelec Group contributes its experience and qualified teams to develop, build and operate battery energy storage systems (BESS), an essential technology to optimize the injection and utilization of renewable energies into the transmission system and provide stability to clients and end users.

Energy Storage for Granja Solar is a large-scale system under development at Copec’s photovoltaic park, located in Chile’s Tarapacá Region. It will allow storing and injecting power equivalent to the electricity consumption of over 60 thousand households each year, with an injection rated power of 105 MW and a storage capacity of 420 MWh.
